Remembering ATAL Ji……!!!!!

I must say that I was very small did not understand politics at all back then, merely   10 when Atalji   became the prime minister. I back then used to spend a lot of time at my grandparents place and thus spent watching parliamentary debates that my grandpa watched. Of course I understood   nothing back then   and found it boring , only to realize years later how that discussions in the parliament I was watching then with no clue are shaping my life   today in very real and tangible terms. Enormity of those decisions and the path that it took the nation is something beyond words.   As all kids of the 90’s, a young   westernized   boy, I   was   a little awkward to see my prime minister walk in Dhoti and speak in Hindi more than English, only to later realize how foolish I was to judge by attire   and to mock the magnanimity and the depth of the Hindi language , the virat and advitiya sanksritik heritage that it has and the wor...

Time to look “right” economically….!!!

The battle for the power between left and right in India that began in 2014 has moved emphatically to the “right” post 2019 elections. 2014 is when India supposedly moved right of center to give a thumping majority to the so called ‘Right Wing” of India.’ Acche din Anna wale Hain’ was the card sold , ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas’ was the key connect that drove the masses to BJP. The BJP voters and online supporters enthusiastically wore the badge of ‘ Bahtks’ and “Right wing”. On the social front the lines are more or less defined quite well between the Right and Left wing and the issues handled with clarity, but what about economics? The economics in the west is well defined and the elections are fought more on economic issues than on social.  There the left means socialists economics more off government redistributions model while the right is for the free market, businesses and less government interference. The story of India is different.  Both RSS which was formed in the pre...

Avengers’ and its parallels to the Hindu right ideology.

The Avengers’ series has recently concluded and since I have followed the series from early on at the end of the endgame movie I was sitting watching credits presented on the screen to wait for any new hints of the new movie as every Marvel fan does. That was not to be, but while I was sitting there a thought did arise in my mind on the undercurrent message of the series and its parallels to the Hindu right movement in India. Movies do teach and influence us a lot and is a powerful medium to convey the message and hence I try to explore and argue the case for the Hindu right movement using the most successful franchise in modern times Avengers’. For the scope of this blog let’s focus on the three Avengers’ movies the civil war, infinity war and the endgame. Civil war : The Avengers’ the supposed invincible who could do nothing wrong, find themselves at the midst of the entire opposite in this movie. Doubt, suspicion, infighting grip the mighty and they are pitted against each othe...

The Rise and Fall of the Thackeray’s

The topic that I chose to write today is personally a little painful to pen down but post the so called “Sabha” taken by Raj Tahckeray I had to say enough is enough. As the “Marathi manus” from Mumbai I have come to live with the terms “Thackeray Shaili”(style) and Thackrey dominance and honestly enjoyed every bit of it till a few years ago, precisely till the death of “BALA SAHEB THACKERAY.” The man who ruled Mumbai or Mumbai let him rule itself I don’t know, since the love that the man received here was not just unconditional but also of a kind seldom a regional politician has got. Nothing about BALA Saheb the man was normal, his charisma and his enigma just ran through the blood of every Marathi youth. The famous Mumbai bandh and the various anodolans will be etched in the minds of the people living here forever.  For the people of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s in Maharashtra and specially in Mumbai one more photo was added in the list of photos people worship at home “BAL KESHAV TH...

Don't light a candle this time, let the blood boil..!!!!

India experienced its worst attack in the last two decades and the entire nation submerged into sadness. Sadness because 44 Indian lives were lost, lost they were not fighting but the Jawans were travelling at supposed peace time if anything of that sort actually exists in Kashmir. Sad I am not merely at the loss of the 44 lives of the Jawans but the disoriented approach we as Indians have shown in dealing with the situation like this. People still think that a terrorist nation like Pakistan can be made to understand via peace process and via KADI NINDA as our politicians always show only protest. They have been hitting you since long precisely if we just take independent India then since 70 years, 1947 PARTION , 1948, 1965 and 1971 overtly and after losing all the three wars to us covertly ever since then. 99 KARGIL, then AJZAL GURU attacked parliament, then blasts all across India, MUMBAI train blast, then 26/11. I remember that dialogue from Wednesday movie, Sir they have a...

Dear BJP/RSS its time to look “right” economically….!!!

The battle for the power between left and right in India that began in 2014 is just starting to heat up ahead of the 2019 elections. 2014 is when India supposedly moved right of center to give a thumping majority to the so called ‘Right Wing” of India.’ Acche din Anna wale Hain’ was the card sold , ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas’ was the key connect that drove the masses to BJP. Crackers ban and why I took a counter position ….!!!!

As the Diwali season comes to close lot of people who know me, know my irritated statements regarding the crackers ban or should I say restricted use of crackers during diwali , lot of people found my position regressive , outlandish and illogical. Here is the reason that I busted crackers probably after a span of 10 years and why I think it’s time to speak up against this fake activism.  Could anyone seriously give me the logic of restrictions on crackers, what exactly are green crackers and etc that the courts had it in its verdict as permissible? Can anyone sight a serious study that has been done regarding the impact of crackers on air and noise pollution…! When people talk about pro poor majors elsewhere has anyone given a serious study about how this sudden regulations impacted the crackers industry which is largely MSME. When I raise this valid legitimate questions the usual feedback is I am a BJP right wing bhakt and so on…!! How does raising valid questions be termed pa...
