69 Years of Democratic India……..!!!!!!!!!!!

Today we celebrate or should I say spend just another independence day of our democratic country. 69 years have past since the time we 1st started governing our own country. I say so that we govern our country because we have been told that we are democratic .We believe in equality to all in every aspect and that everyone has a equal right and say in the deciding the nature and the path for our country. A very beautiful and the most idealistic approach to run a country .
The question now is do we really have understood the meaning of the word we Indians so boasts about whenever we speak about India as a nation . Do we really have anything to do with the nation that we are living in and have any real respect for it. I guess a huge question of debate. I believe we as a nation are very confused on our concept of democracy. Right from the 1st speech of the prime minister on 15th August till date I guess every prime minister of our country touches on the point of basic infrastructure like food and shelter to all and education to all . Very nice to hear this in a speech but if 70 years from the 1st speech if we still here the same as food and shelter to all education to all is our nations priority , then we should start doubting the intent of the government to really provide this to us . But as democratic and liberated as we are, we think that the final step of our participation as people of the country is to vote .Posting photos of our inked fingers on face book has become the new trend, and then what ??? we forget. I believe this should only be the 1st step of any individual in a democracy. Politicians are born and their ideologies are built in the society we live and we as a society are so ignorant about our surroundings, then how can we expect the politician to be any different from us .If we ourselves do not care for our country and the 1st thing we educated think is about the ways to fly out of the country and then blame other about how badly they manage the nation . It is we who are responsible for where our country is today and have no right to blame others on our state if we don’t bother to care more for the nation . When we ourselves are so ignorant about the country then how can we blame the politician about not caring for the nation . Democracy is where people are active in the monitoring the work of the government and criticizing the wrong doing so hard that the government is compelled to work in your favor . We all talk so much about all the wrong doing around us but we just want someone else to be the martyr or to lead .
We as people have become so selfish in fulfilling our own dreams that we have forgotten the need for a strong nation. India after 70 years and all the progress that it has made is still struggling for basic infrastructure and we have stopped bothering for our condition . Indians are said to be the most tolerant people in the world. But this virtue has led us to be ruled by outsiders firstly by the Mughals then the British and now at the hands of some politicians. In the beginning the Mughals looted us then the bristish and now our politicians have been doing the same and we still have not learnt from the past and we keep on tolerating . When will we understand the true nature of democracy , when will we understand the true power and responsibilities of the democracy and revolt against the malpractices of the politicians or are we too busy in our own lives that we don’t care for the people around us Can we make an effort to look forward beyond voting in the democracy . And this is only for the people who vote as these people still have some hope in the country. And for those who don’t the battle is already lost. “THE QUESTION THAT WE HAVE TO ASK OUR SELF IS ARE WE TRULY DEMOCRATIC JUST BECAUSE WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE OR WE REALLY UNDERSTAND THE TRUE MEANING OF DEMOCRACY. “ and if the answer is YES then I feel it is high time we start asking questions to the PUBLIC SERVANTS AND TRULY FEEL DEMOCRATIC AND LIBERATED “.
