Ram Janma bhoomi and the larger truth

The Bhoomi Pujan of Ram Mandir is an historic event for a civilizational country like India. It is a signal that India is willing to re-assert its civilizational ties with Bharat and is also willing to fight long battles at many fronts, legal, propaganda wars and also on the streets. This has not been an easy victory and because of the sensitive nature of the topic, often only the so called ‘rationalists’ have chosen to speak on the topic openly often without having read a word about it or at best quoting from the ‘Secular’ myths peddled by some media houses, hampering truth in the process. The Bhumi Pujan is an apt time to talk about this long battle and lay to the fore, the historical narratives around the case in particular but also to show how the civilization has survived the massive onslaught from the invaders and also their ‘fanatic religious zeal’ to destroy the faith of the non-righteous ‘idol worshipers’ and to establish what they called as the only true faith.  Some glob...

Contribution of Veer Savarkar to India's revolutionary freedom movement.

We often talk about butterfly effects which means a small event somewhere having a deep and profound effect on something very far away. The same can be said about the alternative struggle for India's freedom. In 1897 Pune was hit by a epidemic (plague) and the British government in Maharashtra was committing atrocities under the garb of controlling the epidemic. Enraged by the horrors of the government and its failures two young men the Chaphekar brothers killed the commanding officer of Pune, Mr Rand, subsequent to which they were hanged. Little could have anyone known that this event could inspire one of the pioneers of the Indian revolutionary movement. The boy merely 14 was so moved by this event that he rushed to the temple of 'Astha Bhuja Bhavani' in his house and took the oath 'Shartu la marata marata mare to zunzen' ...(will fight and kill the enemy till I survive or die in the process). This oath the boy took at 14 would remain his guiding thought through o...

Maharashtra and its unending legacy.

We are celebrating Maharashtra day today, the state we know geographically came into existence today in 1960 but the history and the legacy of maharashtra is not just geographic it's contributions to the various aspects of this nation and it's culture are profound. A  brief take on them today It's links to Ramayana : Rama is said to have spent some time of his vanavas in Panchavati (today's Nashik) so it has had the honour to host most revered of the hindu gods.... The bhakti movement : The period of 11th to 16th century saw a great intellectual and philosophical churn in india leading to the rise of many saints across India. Maharashtra had its golden period during which saints from all societal background preached here starting from Dnyaneshwar , Chokha Mela , Namdev, Tukaram , Savta mali, Ramdas , Mukta bai and Jana bai to name a few who contributed not just to Maharashtra's intellectual corpus but helped re imagine Sanatan Dharma. Namdev's contribution ...

CAA protest and its resemblance with the partition arguments.

The current protest against CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) and in making the struggles unequivocally as the struggles for the Muslims in India when the Law does not in any way affect them, have raised the concerns in some sections of the society. The argument used by people is that CAA is discriminatory against a particular religion that is Islam and Muslims. While by now everyone is aware of what CAA means, it is important to reiterate that CAA is applicable to the people of only three specific countries that is Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The people protesting are doing a hue and cry why the Muslims are excluded especially the Shia’s and Ahemedia’s which face discrimination in Pakistan. The template being used is that of saving the constitution and thus Dr. Ambedkar is being invoked by the protesters frequently.   Then why does it become justifiable for the Indian Secular state to not grant a fast track process for the Muslims of Pakistan or Bangladesh, remember they ...

Sachin Sachin......... the Lasting Legacy...!!!

My first memories of you are watching the 1996 world cup . Born in 1988 I missed your growing years in cricket as I was busy growing myself . But soon I realized that your influence on me was much before I started watching the game . As cricket loving nation my family was no exception and thus the cricketing culture or cricketing (saunskar ) as they call it in Marathi were made on me right from my childhood. I grew up in a cricket loving family but 1996 world cup made me fall in love with the game or should I say with you..!! It was just a start of a glorious relationship. As years went by the love for you just kept on increasing. I guess 1996 established you as the Master Blaster of World cricket ……!!! The 1998 Sarjha Series: No book you could ever be complete without the Sarjha chapter. The great Shane Warn was at his peak and you just brought him to his knees. If 1996 had established you as the Master Blaster. The Sand strom innings and the 100 in the Finals clearly establishe...

Blockchain a New technology to revive the old past.

Some Background for the Idea Since 2014 the biggest buzz word in India has been history for people on both sides of the political aisle. There has been a larger consensuses among the historians that there are vast parts of our history which are not out in the public domain. Also India as a country is the union of the 28 states. The Sanatan as a Dharma and India as a geography itself has at least a 4500 yrs of literary existence and about 8000yrs as a civilisation. Also Sanatan as a dharmic structure is way different from the Abrahamic architecture with decentralised structure vis-à-vis top down and one book structure respectively. In India every sect has its own history and there by its own cultural nuances and its variety. India has 33 sects of gods alone in the sanatan pantheon and each has its own unique importance and its own significance and its different traditions and ritual patterns and upasanapadhatti. Also in India there were different dynasties in it’s long history from...

The current economic debate..!!

There is no denying the fact India is facing a economic slowdown . The debate right now is whether it is structural slowdown (long term)   or cyclical (short term). Whether it is because of global factors or is it because of government policies. Is it because of global factors or self inflicted. Is India's   growth story over. Have we lost out ? Also is this a demand led slow down over supply side slow down. Lets try to ans. some of these question and the general economic road-map of India. An answer to all this is a mix of everything. Global   effect This is a global slowdown   as the data from IMF points out. China's GDP nos came in at lowest in 3 decades.   Japan , Indonesia   and US also showed the signs of slowing down as pointed out in the RBI monetary review and and IMF an world bank indicators. So there is no denying the fact that the global growth is slowing down mainly due to US China trade war. So does that mean everything in India is fine...
